MSP Patient Policy
MSP patients with dental coverage are welcomed in our office but are highly encouraged to apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan for better coverage! Read more below.
Requirements to apply for CDCP
Ensure you've filed your taxes
The first requirement to apply for the CDCP is to have filed your taxes for the previous year and to have received a notice of assessment from the CRA
Apply for the CDCP
Once eligible, you can apply for the CDCP either online or through their dedicated helpline number. (More details on how to apply can be found on the home page under CDCP section).
Receive your CDCP card
On successful application of the CDCP, you will receive an application number, which can be used to follow up on your application. Your card will arrive in your mail usually by 2 weeks.
Why is CDCP application encouraged
Our mission at Apna Dental Center is to create a safe and non judgemental environment for all patients. However, being a business, we are limited in our ability to provide viable treatment options on MSP coverage alone.
With CDCP, your treatment options are increased by a lot, which means we will be able to provide you with options that would otherwise be impossible without out of pocket expenses.
Important points to remember are that MSP and CDCP are both government plans and are strictly regulated. Any falsification of data while applying for, or using CDCP in a non intended way can result in penalties which will be borne by the insurance holder.
CDCP renews annually after the tax season and has to be reapplied every year to keep the benefits.
That being said, we will still see you on your MSP coverage alone for emergency appointments. So don't hold back. Reach out to us if you have any doubts or concerns regarding this policy and we will be happy to assist you.
